Pharmaceutical classification and advantages of tribenoside

Tribenoside is a saccharide derivative used in edema of extremities, varicose veins & phlebitis. It is an anti-inflammatory agent, non-steroidal in nature, that possesses a unique spectrum of pharmacological activities.

Unlike corticosteroids or non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents, it does not cause any unpredicted effects on the gastrointestinal system, the connective tissue, or the immune system. Moreover, it does not affect the prostaglandin-synthetase system. On the contrary, it improves local microcirculation and vascular tone and reduces capillary permeability.

Tribenoside stimulates laminin-α5 production and laminin-332 deposition to help repair the basement membrane during the wound healing process [1]. It is a mixture of the α- and β-anomers.

Tribenoside features and applications

Tribenoside displays unique features that include anti-inflammatory, mild analgesic, antitoxic,

fibrinolysis-promoting, amine-release-inhibitory, wound-healing, anti-arthritic, membrane stabilizing, and venotropic properties.

Tribenoside for the treatment of hemorrhoids

Tribenoside has been extensively used in combination with lidocaine for the local treatment of hemorrhoids, a widespread condition associated with several bothersome symptoms. Finished dosage forms of the medical preparations are suppositories and rectal creams.

Their mechanism of action alleviates soreness and promotes wound healing. Tribenoside helps to relieve inflammation and pain, while also preventing blood clots by promoting fibrinolysis. It has the potential to ameliorate microcirculation, promote the healing of basement membrane and improve local microcirculation and vascular tone, thus improving the objective symptoms of hemorrhoids [2].

Tribenoside for the treatment of venous circulation diseases

Tribenoside combats the pathological processes of capillaries and veins and is used in adults and adolescents for the treatment of venous circulation diseases, such as phlebitis and varicose veins, two common venous diseases that usually occur in the later decades of life.

What we offer/Benefits

VIO Pharmaceuticals offers cost-competitive tribenoside API for the European market, as a mixture of α- and β-anomers of ethyl 3,5,6-tri-O-benzyl-d-glucofuranoside.

We have developed and optimized our process in-house for safe, lean, and scalable manufacturing, providing additional benefits for high-volume production.
